Henna & mehndi FAQ

Lucky is taking a break from bookings between October 1, 2026 and January 31, 2027, and is back for bookings from February 1, 2027. Up until September 30, 2026 she is booking as normal. During the break you can still message +1 971-227-8645 on WhatsApp to ask about dates from February onward, and the design gallery and prices stay up the whole time.

Henna by Hand is a one-artist mehndi studio based in Celina, Texas 75009. Lucky draws every design freehand and comes to you — at your home, your venue, or wherever the event is. Designs start at $5 and there is no travel fee anywhere in Celina. Book through the form on hennabyhand.com or message +1 971-227-8645 on WhatsApp.

Celina and Prosper are home base and carry no travel fee at all. Frisco, McKinney, Aubrey, Little Elm, Gunter and Pilot Point are a $5–10 travel charge. Plano, Allen, The Colony and farther out are about $15. Whatever the town, the travel charge is agreed with you before Lucky sets off — there are never surprise add-ons.

Henna by Hand is based in Celina and Prosper, Texas, and travels across North Texas — Frisco, McKinney, Aubrey, Little Elm, Gunter, Pilot Point, Plano, Allen and The Colony. Sessions in Celina and Prosper carry no travel fee; nearby towns are $5–10 and farther out about $15.

Designs start at $5. Simple bracelets, bangles and finger vines are $5–15; detailed full-palm, mandala and bangle-band work is $20–40; feet and leg designs start at $10; and bridal or long designs are $50–100. Kids' henna starts at $5. Every one of the 120+ designs in the gallery shows its real price, and the price is agreed before Lucky starts.

Bridal and long mehndi runs $50–$100 and takes 30–70 minutes per side, covering the full hand from wrist to elbow with traditional bridal detail. Both hands plus feet are done on request and quoted once you and Lucky have talked through what you want. Prices are always agreed before she starts.

A simple bracelet, finger vine or kids' motif takes 5–20 minutes. A detailed full palm, mandala or bangle band takes 10–40 minutes, as do feet and leg designs. Bridal and long designs take 30–70 minutes per side. After that the paste needs to stay on your skin for another 4–6 hours to develop, so allow time for that too.

Natural henna usually lasts 1–2 weeks. The stain is darkest on days 2–3 and then fades gently. For the deepest colour, leave the paste on for 4–6 hours (longer is darker), scrape it off rather than washing it off, keep it away from water for the first 6–8 hours, and dab a little coconut oil on before you shower. Avoid scrubbing the area.

Only 100% natural henna paste is used, mixed fresh into cones. There is no “black henna” and no chemical dye of any kind, because those can cause burns and scarring. Natural henna is gentle enough for children. If you have very sensitive skin or a known allergy, ask Lucky for a small patch test first.

Yes — kids are very welcome. Natural henna is gentle enough for children, and kids' henna starts at $5: small motifs like hearts, flowers and butterflies that take about five minutes, from a tiny wrist vine before school to matching designs at a birthday party.

Yes. Mehndi nights, baby showers, birthdays and festival gatherings such as Eid, Diwali and Karva Chauth are all regular bookings, and Lucky comes to your venue. Wear something with sleeves you can push up, or short sleeves — the paste stays wet for a while and can smudge onto fabric. Come with clean, dry skin on the area being decorated. Plan for the paste to stay on for 4–6 hours afterwards and to keep it away from water for the first 6–8 hours, so it is worth booking a time when you are not about to shower, swim or do dishes.

They describe the same thing. Henna is the plant the paste is made from; mehndi is the South Asian art of applying that paste to the skin in patterns. Henna by Hand uses only natural henna paste for every mehndi design.

A few days' notice is usually enough, but weekends fill first, so for weddings, festivals and parties reach out one to two weeks ahead.
